Can I still cancel my Virgin services

I noticed this month that my direct debit was around 15 pounds more than usual, and when I called VM they said that from April there's been a price increase.
I tried to give my 30 days notice to quit my contract but was told that I couldn't as I had missed the deadline and that I still have 10 months remaining on my current contract.
Is this information correct? I was already struggling to pay as it is without having to find some extra money each month for the increase.

Probably nothing you can do, the April rise is a standard thing with most providers, its being looked at by OFCOM but I wouldn't hold your breath for a change. Its always happened but has become noticeable to people due to higher inflation for the last two years. If your increase was £15 , how much were you paying Virgin Media , ? providers that have an inbuilt annual increase based on inflation + x% are around 8% as inflation in January was around
4% ,( 4+3.9) if your £15 increase represents around an 8% increase , that means presumably your bill was £187 before the increase , so with the £15 that’s over £200, is that right ?, if so even before the increase that’s a huge amount , over £2000 a year , why pay so much ?0 -
Something you said was strange; as they said "I couldn't as I had missed the deadline" it makes it sound like they put up your contractual prices more than the CPI + 3.9% so had to give you 30 days to cancel it if you were not happy with the changes. If you did not do it in this timeframe then I am afraid that's on you.
If you are struggling and if you are on Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or Income-based Employment Support Allowance then you might qualify for Virgin's "Social broadband tariff".
Best thing to do is contact them and discuss it, tell them you cant afford it and see if they will lower your services to save you some money till the end of the contract.

Agree with iniltous, sounds like you are overpaying anyway. What package are you on? We get 500mb dl speed, TV package plus Sky sports and movies in HD, Netflix, anytime calls, second box etc. and all that is only £70 a month. What's the other £100+ for? You'd be best speaking to them and tell them you are struggling and see what they can do. If you try and cancel it'll cost you. Everything goes up in April .0
