Would you like to transform your outdoor space? Or maybe you just fancy a change from your usual garden design? Either way, you’ll be pleased to hear that Alpen has teamed up with BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine to offer one lucky winner the ultimate garden makeover, worth up to £25,000.

The prize includes project management, a design plan created by a recognised designer, and landscaping by a professional landscaper. The winner will also be able to provide a brief for the design and make up to two revisions once it’s been created.

1. The Promoter is Immediate Media Company London Limited (company number 06189487). The Promoter can be contacted via legal@immediate.co.uk. The competition is sponsored by Weetabix Limited (company number 00267687) (t/a “Alpen”).
2. The BBC Code of Conduct for competitions can be found at bbc.com/editorialguidelines/guidance/code-of-conduct and all BBC magazines comply with the Code. Entrants must comply with this Code.
3. The promotion is open to residents of mainland UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland only (excluding Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, Channel Islands and all the Scottish Islands) aged 18 years or older, except the Promoter’s and/or Alpen’s employees or contractors and anyone connected with the promotion or their direct family members.
4. Internet access and an email address required.
5. One winner with a garden in the UK or Ireland will receive as the prize a garden makeover, up to a value of £25,000.00. The prize will include advice provided by the BBC Gardener’s World magazine team to the contractor appointed to carry out the makeover. The winner must own the garden to be made over, or provide the written permission of the landowner before the prize will be made available.
6. The Promoter reserves the right to verify whether any entrant is eligible under, and in compliance with, these terms and conditions. The Promoter may require such information as it considers reasonably necessary for this purpose.  The Promoter may withhold the prize while it verifies eligibility and compliance.
7. The promotion opens at 09:00 on 14 April 2024 and the closing date for entries is 23:59 on 31 October 2024 (the "closing date").
8. Entrants should answer the multiple-choice question available at gardenersworld.com/alpen-competition. No purchase is required. Entrants should submit their details on the entry page. Entries received after the closing date of the promotion will not be considered.
9. By entering the promotion, the participants agree: (a) to be bound by these terms and conditions; and (b) that should they win the promotion, their name and likeness as well as images of their garden before and after the makeover, may be used by the Promoter and Alpen, at their discretion for promotional purposes, in their magazines, on digital platforms and social media channels.
10. Entrants must supply to the Promoter their full name and email address. The Promoter will use entrants’ personal details in accordance with its Privacy Policy (https://policies.immediate.co.uk/privacy/).
11. Only one entry will be permitted per person, regardless of method of entry. Bulk entries made by third parties will not be permitted.

13. There will be one winner.
14. The winning entrant will be the first correct entry drawn at random from all the correct entries after the closing date. The Promoter’s decision as to the winner is final and no correspondence relating to the promotion will be entered into.
15. The Promoter may share the details of the winner with the prize provider and relevant suppliers for the purposes of fulfilling/delivering the prize.
16. The winner will be notified within 14 days of the close of the promotion by email. If the winner cannot be contacted or fails to respond within 28 days of such notification being sent, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to a runner up. These terms and conditions will apply to any replacement winner but they may be given a shorter time to claim the prize.
17. Entrants who have not received a prize will not be notified.
18. There is no cash alternative. The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable . The prize must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of the same or greater value.
19. The winner will be solely responsible for collecting any third party consents required to fulfil the prize. For example, if the garden or access is not solely owned by the winner, consent will be required from the land owner. If the winner is unable to provide the necessary consents, then the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to a runner up.
20. The surname and county of residence of the winner will be available (unless the winner has objected on lawful grounds) upon request by writing to website@gardenersworld.com within two months of the closing date of the promotion. The Promoter will contact the winner before releasing this information and provide the winner the opportunity to object or limit the amount of information shared. Nevertheless, the Promoter may disclose the surname and county of the winner to the Advertising Standards Authority or the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland if required to do so.
21. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or to cancel, alter or amend the promotion at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control. The Promoter will at all time endeavour to provide reasonable notice in the event of an alteration or amendment to the Terms, setting out the reason(s) for the alteration or amendment.
22. The Promoter does not accept any responsibility for lost, delayed or fraudulent entries.
23. The Promoter excludes liability to the full extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or her entry into the promotion or occurring to the winner arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.
24. The promotion and these terms and conditions (including any non-contractual disputes or claims arising out of them) is subject to the laws of England and Wales and any disputes or claims shall be referred to the courts of England and Wales, save that consumers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland may additionally bring an action in their home courts.

The Prize

• One winner will receive a garden makeover worth up to the value of £25,000.00 including project management, design and landscaping co-ordinated by a recognised designer and completed by a landscaper recognised by the Association of Professional Landscapers. The designer and landscaper are in no way endorsed by BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine.
• The designer and landscaper will be chosen by the Promoter based on the location and specifications of the winner’s garden.
• A design plan will be created by the selected designer in conjunction with the winner’s brief. A maximum of two revisions to the original design concept are permitted.
• The prize value will cover costs up to a maximum of £25,000.00 and the design will be commissioned to meet this budget. Unused budget cannot be used for any other purpose and will not be provided in cash. No additional spend will be provided for designs which exceed this budget and the winner will be responsible for meeting such additional costs.
• The build of the garden will be completed within 18 months of the initial design consultation with the designer, subject to any unforeseen circumstances.

Please note, ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the garden is the sole responsibility of the garden owner. The winning garden will not be eligible to enter the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Garden of the Year competition for a minimum of five years from the date of completion of the makeover.
