What did you do ?
Did you call your breakdown service ?
As far as I am aware - EV's cannot be towed ....

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

  • Nor can most automatics, which is why recovery vehicles will virtually always use a flat bed trailer...

Most automatics - you can disconnect the drive for short distances
What do you do with EV's that have run out of juice ?

There was one on one of those police TV shows I saw this week, a lorry I think hit an EV and dumped it in the central reservation, they had to get a flatbed. The number of idiots ignoring X on the gantry was scary, no wonder so many motorway staff end up dying

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Well unless you know someone that has something to charge car. Such as a EcoFlow or Jackery to put some charge in.
There is also this service in London

In effect ruing out in a EV is very much the same as ICE.

I guess you could always keep a small diesel- or petrol-powered generator in the boot - sort of an EV version of a jerry-can :)

  • I have an E Niro and this can be towed with the front wheels off the ground.  The electronic handbrake can be released manually.  I would imagine other makes are similar as long as the drive wheels are off the ground.

One of the things that I saw that seemed to be so right when driving in New York State was that wherever there are people working on the roads all fines are doubled.  So speeding is twice as expensive.  I'm sure it must make at least some idiots slow down a bit and hopefully save a few lives.

If you can get it out of park and in neutral you can also tow an EV a short distance.
You can actually put them in drive, tow them and recharge them via regen, but it isn't recommended.

How many have died by being knocked down by members of the public, say in the last 10 years?
