Sash window problem!

Hello,
My sash window in my bedroom has somehow been pushed in from the outside in! Therefore the bottom of the window is nearly 2 inches inside the room and the edge of it isn't flush with the wall.
I have tried hammering it in with no joy so I am thinking i am going to have to take the window out and put it back in again.
Does anyone know whether this would be a job I could do myself with another person helping me or do you think I need a professional?
The window sill also needs replacing, could maybe do this at the same time.
Thanks

How long has it been like that? Years or weeks ? If it came in it will come out (sort of speak). Check where the 2" come from and with help of friends, push whole unit back where it belongs before securing with wedges or screws if you can.0

some sash windows have an agled slide bit at top so that you can remove the sash part to repair them.
try a little gentle persausion with a mallet.

I don't know how long its been like that or how it got like that, I only bought the house a few weeks ago, its very strange!
The whole thing has moved 2 inches inside the room, from the middle to the bottom of the window.
We really have tried to give it a good welly but its not budging back in, so the only way I can think of resolving it is to push it in all the way from the outside in and then put it back in.
Thanks
