PS4 problem

My son says his ps4 is lagging. Slowing him down that he is unable to play properly, he has autism so this doesn't go down well.
I've had lots of checks and a WiFi booster from BT so it's not the WiFi.
What could be causing it and is it fixable? Dreading having to get him anew console.

It IS most likely to be the WiFi or the incoming broadband connection.
Reboot the router and booster.
Is it possible to connect the PS4 to the router directly with an ethernet cable?
That would ensure the least lag in the connection.1 -

As above, powerline adapter is an option. Do a search for TP Link - they'll sell them on the likes of Amazon. You basically plug one in near the router, connect an ethernet cable to it, then plug another adapter in near the PS4 upstairs or wherever, and run the ethernet cable from that adaptor to the PS4. It connects up via your house's electrical network. I have one for my upstairs office set up. They work pretty well.
You basically need to decide whether you want the ones with a through plug, so you don't lose a socket, and also whether you want the receiving adaptor to also do wi-fi or just the ethernet connection. I got the ones that aren't a through plug as I have enough plug sockets, but my receiving adaptor has a wi-fi signal that I can connect up to as well as ethernet cable connection. I kept it as a separate network so we basically have two wi-fi networks in our house, 1 upstairs, and 1 downstairs.1 -
