Hi all.
I'm now back from my trip to Hawes for a music weekend. We all had a great time; good workshops, sessions and a lot of catching up with people I only see occasionally at these type of events. I'm still considering having a few lessons to improve my left hand playing but am hesitating because they would be by Zoom and I think I would prefer face to face.
Today we have DD and the baby calling round, then I'm having my legs waxed at lunchtime and then the window cleaner will be appearing. Off out tonight to Morris practice so will be defrosting some salmon for dinner. I brought back loads of Wensleydale cheese, although some of it is for other people, but we might have some for our lunch today.
Here's hoping for some better weather; the driving conditions on the M1 around Wakefield and Leeds were especially bad yesterday.12 -
Morning everyone
Nice and sunny outside but still windy. I was back at work yesterday, just for the afternoon and I'm shattered this morning - so sick of Long Covid now.
I saw little one briefly - she was thrilled to be back at school. She had taken her London book in to show her class and her teacher 'thought it was so amazing' - DD had had taken her to get some photos printed and put those in too.
I have a few jobs to do this morning before work - nothing too strenuous.
Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all! Sunny but windy. Yesterday started the same way but progressed to what felt like bitter cold ater the warm weather. Went to a talk by Adam Alexander last night at the gardening club meeting, very interesting, of course I got more seeds and said I'd take part in a potato growing challeng and maybe even provide some plants for the plant sale...Me and my big mouth. Today I'm pottering and phoning all the places and people I need to, so at least five phone calls when I'm properly compos. Need to get the manual out for the metal detector too, I said I'd help someone try to find a lost earring or something from thirty years ago...no idea how that's going to go.Allie, I know what you mean, I too eat more if I cant taste things trying to find something i can taste. dp1, going to watch that on catch up in a bit. Glad her Lodnon book was well received
Gers, I did the same when people started raving about them when they came out, then I saw one for half price that's big enough for us two [one drawer] , and of course, being a kitchen thing, bought it. iwas confused by all the bells and whistles and which one etc, but I've found it useful for things that normally get deep fried [ which I never do] so some things are back on the menu again after being off it for years. I'm also amazed at how fast it is. My MiL cooks cakes in hers too, am hoping Mr Olivers programme lives up to the hype. But you're right, they aren't the prettiest and mine lives on the shelf in lean to now, I don't have the space in my kitchen for it, nor do I want it hanging around al the time. Izzy, what a beautiful visitor you had, they're noisy but the beauty makes up for it [ as long as the go away for a bit
] nanny, hope the funeral goes smoothly and why worry about shocking them? Probably give them a smile
Ruby, what a shame Rob is ill again, hopefully his mum will take him to the docs after you told her to! Chris, happy scrubbing. I am lazy though so I put bleach and water in a bottle and spray it on and leave it for a bit [ hndy to keep any old bathroom/kitchen spray bottle for that] WL, I only tied Wensleydale a couple of weeks ago, if I'd known I would have orddered some
glad you trip went well! Coxy, braver than i going wading in a lane! But then I suppose there wasn't any traffic
Take care all, hope the weather is kind to you all today!

Hi all and thanks for the start @Gers x Have a safe journey/stay in Glasgow x
I got back home yesterday, but the journey was delayed due to a tree on the line between Gloucester and London. It was good to have a relaxing bath and sleep in my own bed but I keep having flashbacks to the ‘wading’ incident - keep thinking about being swept away or contracting a horrible disease LL Luckily our accommodation for that night had a WM and TD so we could strip off and get everything clean whilst we showered.
Back to reality at work today. Things are still pretty quiet but I’ve been asked to be secretariat at a monthly meeting starting this week – whoop. In true MSE-style I have brought in breakfast, lunch and a snack banana. DH is cooking tonight – turkey saltimbocca – and then I’m off to WI to learn how to create something with mosaics J
Pretty peacock @IzzyBee but agree they are noisy!
Sorry to hear Rob is poorly again @RedRuby1231 – let’s hope his mother gets him to see the GP
Sorry to hear of the trouble with DS’s tenants @TravellingAbuela – some people are beyond the pale
Hope the funeral goes off okay @nannywindow xx
Glad you had a good trip to Hawes @WickedLady4 x

Sorry @camelot1001 , forgot to say yes, I have a hotbin. I actually have two, one of my neighbours gave me his because he doesn't use it very much so I told him I'd have it on loan and he'd get it back whenever he was ready.I find mine really good. It definitely heats up come spring, straight up to 40 degrees, no problem but in winter it does slow down. I've never bothered putting the hot water bottle in there, I just leave it till spring. And havign two means I can just keep filling one all the time and empty the other when I want to. You do need a space for the shredded paper [I use cross cut, it's easier to mix in] and wood chips, but I just use stuff from trees being cut down, not chunks. The leachate is good to use as feed if you collect it, otherwise, just let it run out if you site it near some veg/flowers. The compost makes itself quite quickly but can be a bit wet at the bottom, taking it out but leaving the stuf fon top is a bit fiddly but easy enough just to throw what isn't composted back in. I've tried ecery methos of composting there is and this is my favourite by a mile. No mess, no smells, easy to get to compost, they're just great.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi4
