Paint is peeling off my car, who should pay for it? Me or Toyota?

Also, that front wing looks like it's started from a scratch, probably from pulling into a hedge on a country lane.
Unfortunately, that was due to someone keying my car...

Thank you for your replies everyone...
Yes, I thought the same pretty much (in terms of that there's not a lot I can do and that Toyota isn't necessarily responsible with it being an old car).
I just thought I'd query it, seeing as it's going to cost a fair bit to rectify properly and seeing that it was a fault in the first place (not due to the age of the car)- no harm in asking haha. Like some of you have stated, I'll probably just try and fix it myself  :D

On a 15 year old car, I would leave well alone and only deal with rusty bits if or when they appear.

Wonder if it might be cheaper to vinyl wrap the car rather than keep on patching up the paintwork? It is a pretty old car though so might not justify significant rectification work though.
No. Any surface faults below the vinyl will stand out like a sore thumb.

The only solution to this is to sand back and repaint.

Personally, on a 15yo iQ? I'd be reaching for something like the brush enamels from https://paintman.co.uk/
That's exactly what I'm about to do with the peeling paint on my 22yo camper van. But that's a vivid hue (which I love) to start with, so I'm going with the original colour. On a boringly white car? I'd be having some fun with the colours...
To be honest, I am a self employed artist, so that's not a bad idea- I could 'Bob Ross' my car haha :D Seriously though, yes, I'm thinking I'll probably try and DIY it- I have some left over paint from when it was repaired before, so I'll try and research how to prep it as best as I can...

Don't think of it as "a car". Think of it as a peeling steel surface.

If you were asked to repaint, mural, whatever a fairly tired steel garage door... what would you do?

Come back and post pics when it's done!

I once hand painted a Mk3 Cortina with Hammerite Smoothrite. It came up really well and was tough as old boots.

Price of Hammerite now though!! Be cheaper to go to a bodyshop :)
