Thank you for your replies everyone...
Yes, I thought the same pretty much (in terms of that there's not a lot I can do and that Toyota isn't necessarily responsible with it being an old car).
I just thought I'd query it, seeing as it's going to cost a fair bit to rectify properly and seeing that it was a fault in the first place (not due to the age of the car)- no harm in asking haha. Like some of you have stated, I'll probably just try and fix it myself0 -
On a 15 year old car, I would leave well alone and only deal with rusty bits if or when they appear.0

The only solution to this is to sand back and repaint.
Personally, on a 15yo iQ? I'd be reaching for something like the brush enamels from https://paintman.co.uk/
That's exactly what I'm about to do with the peeling paint on my 22yo camper van. But that's a vivid hue (which I love) to start with, so I'm going with the original colour. On a boringly white car? I'd be having some fun with the colours...Seriously though, yes, I'm thinking I'll probably try and DIY it- I have some left over paint from when it was repaired before, so I'll try and research how to prep it as best as I can...

Don't think of it as "a car". Think of it as a peeling steel surface.
If you were asked to repaint, mural, whatever a fairly tired steel garage door... what would you do?
Come back and post pics when it's done!0 -

Price of Hammerite now though!! Be cheaper to go to a bodyshop
