Cheque from NatWest, Gordons property lawyers

Hello everybody.

I have just received a check from Gordons property lawyers acting for NatWest.
We remortgaged several years ago and received a very vague letter and a cheque saying funds remained on our account and recommending we seek independent legal advice from our own  qualified legal advisor.
We haven't got a clue what to do so are looking for advice.

Thanks

  • You are quite vague here?
''Funds remained on our account'' - is this related to your old mortgage or another account?

Perhaps you could copy the letter here redacting any personal information of course.
  • sorry it said that funds remain on your file.

"we act for national Westminster bank plc only so we recommend that you seek independent legal advice from your own qualified legal advisor on the contents of this letter and enclosures.

Further to a review by our accounts department, it has been noted that funds remain on your file,

accordingly, we now return these to you by way of attached cheque"

    this pretty much the letter

You won't get legal/professional advice on a forum, either visit a qualified person for this or cash the cheque. They will have standard template answers for stuff like this just in case

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
