Home Insurance (POA Question)

I am POA for an elderly relative currently living alone in his own home. His buildings and contents cover is due to renew and (as seems to be par for the course) the increase is exorbitant and I need to seek a new provider.
This isn't something I've had to do before, so question: If I use search engines for quotes using his name as the policyholder, will that cause any problems if he should have a claim?
I apologise if this is a bit of a numpty question, but I'm still finding my feet as to what I can and can't do as a POA, and want to do everything to the letter.

The insurance will still be in his name.
What you can and cannot do with the power of attorney depends on the type etc.1
