Hi
I am having an issue with my Sky+ box no longer recording BBC1 ( can't live pause or rewind either). Having spoken to Sky technical support a couple of times I have been told that no additional support will be provided and only option is to upgrade to Sky Q. Was also told that all BBC channels at some point in future will not be received on Sky+ box.
Am I correct that whilst I am still in contract that my issue should be fixed? Please note that I have no problems with other BBC channels eg BBC 2.

Unfortunately with the move to HD there is no fix for old Sky+ boxes and you will lose all BBC some time in the future.
Sky+ and Sky+HD boxes are no longer produced and you will only get faults fixed if you insure your boxes with Sky Protect.
The best you can hope for is a good deal for Q or Sky waiving any fees if you wish to leave and take an alternative service.0 -

Am I correct that whilst I am still in contract that my issue should be fixed? Please note that I have no problems with other BBC channels eg BBC 2.No because the platform Sky+ and Sky+HD is effectively obsolete.And your contract is only for minimum staying/payment purposes - the channels and features on offer (including recording) can and will vary at any time with no notice.The lack of recording on one particular channel isn't the end of the world, and as its only on BBC One, most of that content you can get via the iPlayer, which (as you can receive BBC One I'm assuming is Sky+HD) is available on your box when its connected to the internet.You could always try a software reset, which won't affect your recordings. unplug/switch off the box, hold down the Backup button (on the top of the box, not the remote), and plug it back in/turn it on. Keep holding the button until the four lights come on on the front of the box - once they do, you can release the button. Leave for about 10/15 minutes until the lights go off. Wait another few minutes and then use as normal.0 -

If they still want Sky then it's going to be a Q box upgrade.0 -
Yes the BBC have turned the SD broadcasts off but the OP suggests they can receive BBC 1, which is only available in HD, so they must have at least a Sky+HD box.

They are still accessible on Sky+HD boxes and the Freesat equivalent.Although as the OP hasn't been back yet to clarify they could be watching on a potato for all we know.1

Surprised they've tried to sell you Sky Q as they don't sell that either. It's been superceded.
Look at Sky Stream.0 -
@penners324 false information.
Sky Q still has full support, it is still on sale.
Not everyone has access to the broadband speeds required for Stream or Glass.1 -
I’ve been asked to call Sky for a free installation of Sky Q, only problem I have is my HA community dish has an old transponder so won’t be any good, assume Sky won’t want to touch dish and my HA are in no hurry to upgrade it so I can get Sky in to install Q box for me. Every year when I get my new rent information, the letter comes with a breakdown of the charges that make up the rent, it includes the payment for the dish, not sure how I can get them to upgrade the transponder. I am the only person who uses the dish, my 11 neighbours, (except the next door gentleman who has a separate Sky dish on his wall, I don’t think he realised it was illegal, hence the communal dish) don’t have Sky.Paddle No 21:wave:0

The whole point of communal dishes besides making it available to everybody who wanted it was to reduce the amount of standalone dishes on the side of the buildings.Of course what happens in reality is different, but there are copious systems out there still only having one feed that were installed prior to the days of twin Sky+HD input.Unfortunately if your housing association won't upgrade it (or can't upgrade it) not really a lot else you can do. There are other ways these days to get Sky content without a dish and their want is moving towards dishless solutions anyway so...1
