Virgin TV 360 box and negotiating a new contract.

My current contract with Virgin expires July, 2024. They've emailed me, offering a new contract, which I think I'll decline and re-negotiate nearer the end of my current contract,
What they are doing is offering a Virgin TV 360 box. I currently have a V6 box.
Does this mean all the programmes I've recorded would be permanently wiped? If so, this is something I'll have to consider further down the line.
Thank you.

Be aware that if you have a V6 box then a "new 360 box" usually means they'll send you a new remote (which is necessary) and push a software update to your existing V6 box which totally wipes the hard drive including all recordings, links, scheduled recordings and downloads. Only Tivo box owners get a physical new 360 box and remote.

    Thanks JSmithy.
I've rung Virgin and told them I'm not interested in their offer.
It's coming up to that time of year I dread, when my contract is coming up to expiry, and I have to haggle about a new one.
I've been with Virgin for ever, and sometimes I think I should maybe dispense with them. I'm sure I could get a better deal elsewhere, internet wise, but I think the reason I stay with them is because I find the V6 box excellent and useful, hence why I want to keep it.
Is Openreach good? Do members recommend it?
    Thank you.

Openreach manages the network (excepting the likes of Virgin and some relatively smaller operators), they don't sell anything to consumers.

  • Hi JSmithy

Thanks again, please see below, hope I've done this right...

  • I've tried to follow your instructions, I'm afraid I'm a bit new to this.

If I'm reading that right then you have FTTP (fibre to the property) available at up to 1GB speeds so try the MSE Unbundled site to see what's available at your postcode.

  • Will do JSmithy and thanks again.
