Tesco Bank Savings application timing out

Tried a few times over the weekend to open a new Tesco Bank Savings Account, but halfway through the process it times out and shuts down. Tried calling them on Friday but the line just cut off.
Used two different browsers with same end result.

Anyone had any success with them in last couple of days?

  • This happens to me on the Tesco web site almost every time I use it. Even if I try to be really fast with typing in all of the account application data it still seems to time out before the end. Tesco know they have a problem because I spoke to them about it almost 2 years ago. But, if you call them they will sort out your account. I guess they aren't to bothered as they have already sold the business.

  • All sorted-apparently, they still had some old details of a past Tesco Account in their system that we had closed a couple of years ago were causing the problem. The advisor deleted whatever these details were and a new on line application went through without a hitch.

    Timing out is also a problem with sending secure messages. I have been timed out sending a secure message to a Building Society - think it was Saffron. With this problem my "rule of thumb" is to have all relevant details to hand including account numbers, account names etc and do not be distracted otherwise you could have to rewrite a long message all over again - only quicker!

    Write your message in a blank Word document or similar beforehand, cut or copy and paste into secure message. 

    Or, if you didn't know you were going to have to write a secure message and press on, take a copy of the text at regular intervals.

    How does one complete an application without timing out? My wife has tried to sign up for an ISA 3 times, and asked for more time when requested, and still she is timed out? As an existing account holder, my application was trouble -free?

    If you're talking about Tesco Bank.... Id suggest phoning them and they should be able to arrange the account for you.
  • I've just had the same problem trying to open a new Fixed Rate Saver with Tescos and it made no difference how fast I did the application it was always Timed Out - read some of the comments on here - thankyou - and rang them and it was the same problem as one of the other contributors where some old accounts I had closed with them were stopping me from opening a new one so the operator has told me to wait an hour while she updates the records and then I will be able to do the new account online - here's hoping!
