I notice this request to download Anydesk seems to be a common feature of these stories ( not just in this thread).

Been there, done that. Most of the experiences described above are identical with my investment of £250 in Bitplus Capital back in January 2024. Fortunately I was able to retrieve my outlay from the credit card provider I used. However, being scammed is humiliating, even more so by a too-good-to-be-true, celebrity endorsement scam like this.

In the aftermath of this I have received numerous calls from scam-recovery fraudsters - my number was obviously passed on to other shady operators and I am still getting unwanted calls. I now only answer calls from numbers registered in my phone, but for some this may not be an option if you're running your own business etc.

I recommend Which? for their regular scam updates, and forwarding scam texts to 7726 or emails to report@phishing.gov.uk or www.actionfraud,police.uk

I would like to see the phone companies install a 'record call' option as standard on mobile phones. The apps available for this are ridiculously expensive. Scammers hate calls being recorded and usually end the call I've found.
