Kind regards Mark

Do not do it at the airport ,the exchange places at airports normally have terrible exchange rates.

So long as you don't do it at the airport, if it's only a small amount the difference anywhere else (most convenient travel agent, post office, supermarket facility) will be minimal

I guess it depends on where you live and how much you are going to change. For £500 there is about a €10 spread in London (which probably has more specialist exchanges giving better rates)

The real question is what's the need of getting cash before you travel? Even the best London rate you're losing £5 compared to what Mastercard would charge on an Euro ATM charge via fee free card like Starling.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. When you say a small amount how much do you mean please?

I would say it's about 2-3% margin that you will pay to exchange cash in UK, compared to the daily MasterCard or Visa rate obtained at a Eurozone ATM using a fee-free card. Such cards are quick and easy to obtain and can of course be used for non-sterling payment directly, whereas regular cards involve a similar (varying) levy of 2-3% for such use.

About £200at most. Not needed even that for some years as credit cards so widely accepted but make sure you use a fee-free one
