Faulty cooker hood

We purchased a Russell Hobbs extractor cooker hood from Curry’s at the end of February.
We paid £155 to have it installed by an electrician. It worked successfully for 2 minutes and then the fan died. The lights and display console work but the fan doesn’t. We approached Currys who agreed to collect this appliance and refund the cost of it if we could box it up . We needed to pay the electrician to have it removed , another £55. Curry’s did not seem to be inclined to reimburse us for either of these out of pocket costs. We were passed over to Russell Hobbs who have only agreed to pay the removal cost of £55.
Who is responsible for the full cost of installation? What are our legal rights?

The manufacturer has no liability beyond it's contractual warranty terms, which will not include consequential losses. If RH have agreed to pay for the removal, they have gone beyond that.
If that is their final offer, then your only option is to make a further claim against DSG under CRA 2015, which is a rather grey area when it comes to consequential losses.
Your only statutory rights are against the retailer: nothing to do with the manufacturer. And DSG are well known for encouraging you to pass on all such claims to the manufacturer, even when they know that they are liable. No free lunch, and no free laptop1
