Stamp duty

Hi to everyone. Years ago my son bought a property in Spain for holidays, years later he bought a property in London where he is domiciled and paid £12,000 in stamp duty because it is a second home. How much will he have to pay in stamp duty if he sells the property in Spain to buy another abroad as a holiday home? Does it count as a third property? Thanks. Gianni

    It won’t have anything to do with uk stamp duties. He will need to check the rules in whichever country he is buying.

    @user1997 is right.

    Also note that selling the holiday home in Spain could not entitle your son to reclaim the extra 3% Stamp Duty Land Tax paid on the purchase of the property in London.
