Yet another RAC compensation claim....

So car broke down, rang RAC at 5pm, was given an ETA of 6:30 to 8pm. This soon changed to 10pm-1am. Now I had to work the next day, so rang them back to say I will get a taxi to my hotel (was working away) and we agreed to the engineers visit for 8am to 12 noon the next day. They rang at 7:30am the next day saying they're on their way, I got another taxi from hotel to breakdown site. They sorted the problem fine (battery dead) and I was on my way.
But can I claim compensation for the £60 taxi round trip? Would of been prepared to wait, say, for up to 3 hours. But it would of been a minimum of 5 hours, probably more. Can a claim be done online, or has it got to be done by phone 🙄? I know there's a lot of unsatisfied RAC customers out there, but if you pay for cover should you really be saddled with a taxi bill?

Read the terms of your policy. There is a clause that says they will do their absolute very best to turn up and help you as soon as possible, but if they take ages- tough. If you have the "onward travel" ££££ extra, then if they can't fix it in 12 hours you can start claiming taxi fares, hotel fees etc.So I suspect the answer is no.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
