    I get 4 rent free weeks a year but as I pay monthly I don't really notice.  So normally it's rent*48/12 but this year it's rent*49/12
    If you're being paid 3 weeks more rent than you're actually liable for, how can that possibly be described as 'being shafted?'
    How do you arrive at that statement? UC know that I have 4 rent free weeks a year and that is factored in to how much they pay me. So I'm not being paid for 3 weeks more rent at all. UC multiply my weekly rent by 48 and divide that into 12 equal instalments.

    I arrived at that by reading your opening post which stated you received 52 weeks rent;

    UC have worked out my housing element for 52 weeks and when I contacted them they said "We calculate your housing entitlement by taking your weekly rent amount which we multiply by 52 and divide by 12. We will always use 52 weeks for this so when there is a 53 week year being applied by your landlord, we do not take this into account.

    If that's not the case and you actually only receive 48 weeks worth or rent then that's unfortunate and I withdraw my comment as it's obviously incorrect. Even so, I still don't believe your being shafted.

    It isn't incorrect because they have 4 weeks free rent and during that time help with the rent isn't paid so they calculate it different to spread the payments evenly across the year.

    I was referring to my comments being incorrect as I'd made them based upon the information in the OP.

    I asked our Housing team about this.
    They said HB only pays 52 weeks. So will owe a week extra.
    But said do not worry as next year is only 51 weeks.
    As we are 2/3 weeks in credit, they want a month HA HA.
    I will not be an issue.
    Our rent went up on the ist of April, This months HB was at last years rate, so a doubble kick to the family jewels.
