ipod recycling?
Does anyone know if old ipods can be recycled for charity in the same way that old mobile phones can? I have been given a new one for Christmas and have an old one with a fractured screen. It still works but I just can't see what is playing! Don't want to throw it in the bin if it can be put to use.

try googling 'certified apple reseller' or contacting your nearest apple store. apple and certified resellers will take 2nd hand apple gear and either fix it and resell (thru that scheme) or use functioning parts where possible. not sure if they'll buy old ipods off you, but they should at least take the item off you hands (if it needs to be posted try persuading them to cover costs, since they are the ones who'll profit from this).Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!! why not sell it on ebay with 1p reserve, anyone willing to pay cash will likely have a use for it.
an example of a use would be something like the denison ice link for car stereos, you can play/control the ipod and even watch movies off it but dont need a screen or batteries. i was considering doing it on my car but am to lazy at the moment and am trying to limit the bills to under £500 a month which aint easy lately (bmw 7 series grr).0 -
Exactly what I was going to say, epz. I put my old ipod on ebay, not working due to water damage, wouldn't connect to the comp, overheated, battery didn't switch off when you switched the ipod off...
Got £20 plus postage.
Then you can give the money the charity of your choice!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
