Solicitor wants ID so they can put inheritance into my bank account. Letter states photo driving licence needed. Passport is lost. Would they accept a Provisional photo driving licence

have you asked them? they may be happy to accept it as i believe you needed proof of identity originally to get you provisional licenceLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1

Provisional driving licence for ID purposes is the same as full licence afaik.0

Hi,
If a provisional licence isn't sufficient then this is a problem for the solicitor to solve - they can't demand that you incur any but the most trivial cost in order for you to receive your inheritance.
If cost has to be incurred (e.g. they insist you get a pasport) then it is a cost of administering the estate, which they pay, and it comes out of the estate as a whole before it is divided up (which might be a pain for them if they have already given some residual beneficiaries their inheritances).1 -
I'd agree, ask them if provisional licence is OK, and if not, what else will they accept? A sibling used Bus Pass and work ID badge as photo ID to open a bank account once, along with some proof of address.Signature removed for peace of mind1

The solicitor isn't interested in how good your driving is, so no reason in principle why a provisional shouldn't be as good.1
