'People disagree with me so they must be working for British Gas' is a pretty odd position to hold.
Would someone currently working for British Gas be able to submit comments on the MSE Energy Forum without disclosing their position?

No - section 4 of the forum rules states that if representing a profession or business, you must be verified.  Hence I pointed that out when I was first accused of working for BG.

Do we know how many verified members there are in the MSE Energy Forum?

I don't know if there's a list of anything.  If any post, it will be very obvious indeed as they have a formal signature indicating as much.  I haven't noticed a verified poster from one of the utilities post here in a while.  It used to be quite common - there used to threads where you could specifically ask them a question.  Some of the major suppliers had 2 or 3 reps here.

ETA:  I went back a while and luckily the first thread I tried had one.  This post is from an official (or now former) rep and it's very clear.
