Energy credit - over refunded

I have moved house so moved to a new energy provider. I requested a refund of my account credit, which I’ve received but it’s far higher than I expected.

My account said it was in credit by £600 but they have sent three refund payments totalling almost £1500.

I contacted them to query this but the responded to say this was the refund I requested, to which I asked them to confirm they’ve sent the correct amount and they said yes. I have saved the message as proof. My query is if they come back at a later date and say they got it wrong are they still entitled to getting the money back from me? I plan to move the additional money into savings so it would be there if so, but it would be rather useful to stay in savings!!
