Hi all, I am looking at roofing companies to get quotes on an upcoming roof replacement job.
I have shortlisted a few companies. I have cross checked the shortlisted companies on google, checkatrade, which trusted traders, trust a trader, mybuilder, rated people, bark and yelp. Basically whichever review websites available for said company, I have looked through them all.
There's this company which has exceptionally well received reviews on all websites I mentioned above, the owner is fairly young, about 28 years old and has been trading for 8 years by now. I found the information on company house. His company website looks decent, he has a consistent facebook presence for works he's done. Everything from what I have found seems to me that, this is the most ideal company to hire for the job. The thing is I don't see his company is insured. I am doing my due diligences while researching on builders because of my previous bad experience.
My question is, is it possible to have such good reviews on all websites, that's totally of over 400+ above 9.5/10 scores. Could anyone shed some lights on this? Thank you.

So ask him if he has PLI, and to what level. Every reputable builder will do.
The only real way to be sure is to speak to former clients (ones who aren't relations or friends of his).No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
It's very easy to manipulate reviews. There are programs that will email customers to ask for a star rating, anything 4/5 will then push the customer forward to an actual review site, anything of 3 and below will just refer back to the company as a customer service issue. There's no way the sites you mention aren't using those programs. They make money by selling fresh leads, they need all their trades to have decent scores. That said, it takes time to build a social media history with proof etc, so that's a good sign. Being 28 and running your own roofing company for eight years is interesting. Have you looked at the officer history on companies house too to see the director history?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
