Refund from E.ON Next after 2 years of moving?
My energy company kept getting my bills wrong, so to save the hassle I asked them to put in a prepayment meter. I then told them the day and my new address when I moved. The prepayment meter was nearly ran out the day I moved out.
Yet now 2 years later I had a letter to my new address saying they owe me £78, so I phoned them thinking it was a scam to get my banking details, but it's genuinely the energy company and they sent me a cheque. Although they're closing down all the banks so will have to travel miles to put it into my account.
Might anybody know why they have worked out they owe me money 2 years after I moved and have had a different energy company in my current address? I'm glad I do have the refund, but confused, as woman on the phone could hardly speak English and didn't seem to know herself why.

Some sort of billing eror that they have identified retrospectively?
Most banking apps enable you to take a pic of a cheque and pay it in online, or you can pay it in at the Post Office. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Any idea why they didn't know before and who or why they only let me know 2 years later?

The only people that will know will be E.On. Did you not ask them whilst on the phone?SSmith99 said:macman said:Some sort of billing eror that they have identified retrospectively?

I did ask but her English was really bad and it was getting frustrating talking to her. She didn't seem to know much anyway.
