US Motel still has my UK driving licence and will not post it to me

I applied for a replacement licence 2 months ago. But I did have the time to continue chasing this..I wasn't going to let the ******* off the hook. It's taken nearly 4 months. After saying they couldn't post confidential information, they said they would post it. They wouldn't tell me how much it would cost to post....then they asked for my credit card details to pay for postage. As you can imagine, there was no way I was giving those details to this crowd to charge some unspecified amount to my card. I said give me your bank details and I'll transfer the money..how much will cost? Still no cost provided and then they said we won't give you our bank details. So after nearly 4 months, they still have my licence, the 2nd most important piece of id you have after a passport and won't post it. It's valid over here of course, but anywhere else in the world, it would still look to be valid and I'm sure the photo could be replaced. I do not want to be the victim of identity theft. I told them to send me a photo of the licence cut into 4 pieces and that would be the end of it. No reply. Finally, I called the Frostproof police who went round and took it off them. Anyone who says it's equally my fault, I was not dealing with normal people.

It really sounds like you were obsessive over this, something that costs 30 ish to replace, and is useless anywhere else around the world.  You should have just let it go.

I certainly think the OP has made a mountain out of a molehill.  They said from Day1 that they wouldn't post it, so a request for a photo of it chopped up should have been the decision at that point.  Involving the local police??
