Home insurance - Cost increase of 50% + £56!!

I'm with Policy Expert and my home insurance renewal quote is a massive 50% increase on last year plus it would cost £56 extra to pay by direct debit. I'd read that increases were about 20%. I have emailed them to ask them to justify the increase but have had no reply. What is going on?

Such is life with both home and car insurance right now.

Time to get on the comparison sites and shop around.

By direct debit do you mean monthly rather than paying a lump sum on renewal. Spreading the cost incurs interest and other admin fees.

My PE increase was 22% in March , paid as a lump sum.
