We don't have children either - just nieces and nephews with 'expectations'.
Sis in law has already suggested putting some or all of our house in trust, so it couldn't be used to pay care home fees - but we have made it quite clear that if one or both of us need care (unlikely) then paying for the best possible care will take precedence over leaving any money behind.3 -

Wow, How presumptuous of them !!!
I'm with you.
Beyond reasonable gifts, they're gonna have to be happy just to get anything left. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Can't you name them and any in anticipation of as well or is it one of the other?Malthusian said:
Either is fine for ABCDE&F, but the former option excludes George and Harriet who were born after you wrote the Will.Savvy_Sue said:However, just out of interest, would he need to say "all my wife's niblings", or would it be enough to identify them as Archie, Bert and Charlie Brown, and Danny, Egbert and Frannie Smith?
An Uncle of DH has named his niblings in his will but that's because he also had a brother with a rather colourful love life and trying to untangle who was a niece/nephew in the eyes of Uncle who was making will versus who was a nibbling according to the law was proving problematic, not helped that brother, father of these niblings died several decades ago, so couldn't clarify.. Of the siblings Uncle has left, 3 are female, past child-bearing age, 1 is male and in theory could have more kids but in probability won't as he's been with his current partner for over 20 years who is also past child-bearing age.0
