Best price from London to Dominican Republic

Hi there

Have been looking at flights for 2 adults and 1 child from London (probably Gatwick) to Puerto Plata in Domincan Republic, departing Monday 7th April, returning Mon 14th April.

I've had a good price on some RIU hotels booking directly in $, accommodation works out at around #550 for the 3 of us which seems really good.

So far though, best flights I've found are via Newark and are costing about #1800, but with an overnight stop at Newark.

Thomson brochure price is about #2200 all in. Has anyone got any suggestions or better deals? Don't mind travelling out a day earlier and staying longer in the stopover destination.

Thanks

Stuart

PS Sorry about the ## symbols in place of pounds - keyboard is playing up!

There will surely be charter flights that go directly to Puerto Plata, and for far less than the figure you have quoted.

Alternatively, consider schedules flights to Santo Domingo (the national capital).

Try www.firstchoice.co.uk/flights for flight-only charter flights. I think they only go from Bristol on a Monday to POP, but you can go from Gatwick other days of the week if flexible with dates.
  • Thanks for the replies so far.

I've had a look at the charter flights, but so far they are as dear as a full package holiday. For example first choice are quoting over £2200 for flights only for that week. Thomson are similar.

Voyager2002 - that was my thinking that a charter should be cheaper than a scheduled flight, but if it is, at the moment I can't find it!

    Thanks

Opodo have the flight via Newark for £411pp, which is a bit cheaper than your original quote (Mon 7th-Mon 14th).

Lo cost airline JetBlueAirways.com have JFK-POP one-way for £80 (including taxes & charges) mid-morning on 7th April which also might be an option for you.
