Prosperous Life administration problems

  • Hi,my bank said if I had used a credit card they might have been able to do something but because it was a debit card no help I'm afraid.
  • Prosperous Life never sent me notifications to transfer to Dignity,I contacted Dignity who told me I wasn't eligible for the rescue plan,I have been told by the administrator I will only receive a partial refund when they have sorted the problem out.
They told me in February when my father passed away and I attempted to submit a claim that they tried to contact him to inform him it had gone into administration but because he had dementia, he didn't understand and as his POA, I had never been informed.  It was also past the date that we could transfer so I was also told that if I got anything back at all, it might only be as much as 10% of the value!  Absolutely disgusted and can't understand why they didn't just transfer policies over, especially in this instance.  Since then, I have applied to claim and I've just had my father's policy, death certificate and will returned with a letter stating it was under review.  I'm trying to remain positive even though the rest of the family don't think we'll get much back, if anything at all.  At a time when we were struggling with grief, we had this to contend with, not to mention the unexpected funeral costs we had to fork out for.

Hei, Prosperous Life &Dignity oh boy, I've had nothing but problems from these companies, I wasn't allowed to transfer to Dignity for some obscure reason,I paid over £2500 to Prosperous Life, they went into administration, I'm still waiting for Kroll administration based in Manchester for a refund, all in all a very bad experience dealing with these people, Prosperous Life told me my family would have to pay for my funeral & wait for a refund, when dealing with a very delicate subject not the response I needed, it is a nightmare situation  when companies can get away with such things, but this is the country we live in, I've had to declare myself bankrupt, while probably the people who set up the business are scamming people out of more money, hope you get something sorted soon.
  • my dad is in the same situation. He is 77 and has asked me to look into this on his behalf. I have created a facebook group for anyone affected so we can share updates and hopefully fight this together.  The group is called Prosperous Life Administration.

Kroll stated in their last update that the next one would be within a month of 18th April and nothing so far. I have sent a letter to the 2 practitioners responsible for the insolvency requesting an update

I paid £1800 debit card deposit, then paid direct debit for 10 months, then Prosperous Life cancelled the direct debit.
Did you contact your bank to ask if you could do a chargeback in respect of the deposit? You might be out of time but surely it's worth checking: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/visa-mastercard-chargeback/#:~:text=You%20typically%20have%20up%20to,Broken%20goods.
Chargeback is 120 days from the date you was suppose to receive the services.  Im not sure if in this instance it couold be argued that as the services were due on death the 120 days hasnt started yet.  However lets not forget chargeback is not compulsory and is something the banks hhave voluntariallyu agreed to.

You have nothing to lose trying this and I would as Marcon as said give it a go.

Finally I appreciate its money you cant afford to lose but any investment long term like this as many risks involved none more so than the company folding.  Did Dignity sday why your monies failed to go to them?  Also there is no time limit for the administrators to fund your refund (probably pro rata as well) because they have to call in all the people owing the company money and then ionvestigate all the claims made in respect of the failed company. Only then can they say each creitor will receive x amount in the pound
