in Credit cards
Hi, a credit card I have is now positive after a refund. I’ve heard I should ask the bank for a ‘Credit Balance Refund’. Is this a good idea and it won’t have any adverse affect on anything please? It’s with NatWest. Thank you

No adverse impact. As you are not supposed to have a credit balance, this is the correct thing to do by requesting the refund.
The exception would be if your regular expenses would cover what the refund would be in that billing month, there's not much point in requesting the refund (if you plan to use that card anyway)1 -
There will be no adverse impact. Whilst it's against the T&Cs to deliberately put a card into credit, this doesn't apply if the credit balance is as the result of a refund. It depends largely on the sums involved and your regular spending pattern. If the credit balance is relatively small and you usually spend that sort of amount on the card every month anyway, then it's simplest just to leave it sitting there, and let it get used up by your routine spending. If it's a substantial amount, or if you don't use the card much, you can request it to be refunded if you want.Either way it'll make no difference to your credit history, if that's what you're worried about. It's just a case of taking the option which is least hassle for you1
