The shares and funds crashed around 2020 and have now recovered now.

Buying in the dup is a good idea but many including myself sometimes get scared.

    Lesson buy in the dip

I never advocate market timing, but the lockdown crash is the only time I pulled it off successfully. I bought the dip with most of our rainy-day fund and it paid for our summer holiday. #StayAtHome #ProtectTheNHS

It was "be greedy when others are fearful" on steroids.

(I'm conscious of my privilege in having money spare that I could afford to risk in the markets, but on the other hand, we didn't get anything from furlough as I could work from home.)

I look at what the analysts are saying, but sometimes they seem to indicate that when a share drops to a certain price, it becomes a share worth buying.
There are obviously other things to consider, as they sometimes recommend buying a share when it's increasing.
