Have I paid via Paypal or Credit Card?

Hi
I've tried making a Section 75 claim on a closed credit card account. They say I used paypal to pay for the item therefore I have no Section 75 protection. My question is how can I tell if I used paypal or not? I can see the transaction in my paypal account - it says paid with Amazon credit card (which would've been a linked card) - I cannot see the credit card statement to see the entry as the card account was closed many months ago.
If paypal were 'only' the transaction processor would the transaction still appear on my paypal account?
I wouldn't normally pay via paypal if there was an option to just pay by credit card. The seller has gone bust (hence section 75 claim) so I can't recreate their check out process.
Many thanks for any help

If you can see the transaction in your paypal account you must have used paypal.
Some card companies do payout but others do not. My question would be what if the seller using paypal for all their banking needs?
You would need proper legal advice though. Even if its a grey area they may payout to save the trouble (depending on value).Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...2 -
