New Card 0% Duration Help Please

in Credit cards
Hi,
I have been pre-approved for a new MBNA Balance Transfer CC using their eligibility checker 0% for 14 months.
Using MSE Credit Card Eligibility checker, i have a 95% chance of approval, but it states below.
21 months at 0% if you’re pre-approved – or you could get 12 months at 0% if accepted but not pre-approved
So my question is, do i actually have to 'apply' and be accepted before knowing what 0% duration would be on offer? Obviously, I don't want to apply for the card without this information. I have been caught out before (like many others) when i have applied for a card (Tesco) and received no acknowledge, email nothing. About 3 weeks later, I received a credit card through the post, by which time i had applied for a card with a different company (which surprisingly was approved) but i'm assuming this would/could have affected my credit rating.
I would like to think i wouldn't apply for something before actually knowing what i'm applying for, but from past experience I don't trust myself not too!!
Any advise would be greatly received.
Thanks

Yes you do have to apply before you know how many months, what the credit limit is and whether you will actually even get a 0% deal. These robot comparisons aren't as thorough as when an application has been made. As far as I'm aware that to be allowed they have to actually give the headline deal to at least 51% of the applicants. So a lot of people are likely to be disappointed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Thank you, really glad I asked now
After seeing posts where applications have been rejected when comparison site says you’re 'pre-approved'. Don't think it's worth risking applying in the hope you may possibly get a few extra months at 0% only to be refused all together.
Thanks again0
