Faulty Freezer Compensation for food

Hi,
I have recently bought a Beko freezer and within a week it malfunctioned.
An engineer confirmed this and a refund and pick-up has been arranged via AO.
This damaged food within costing over £60 is not being dealt with as Beko stated they do not cover the contents and told nobody will.
Home insurance is requesting excess which puts us further out of pocket. Can someone advise what can be done? This is unfortunately the second time this has happened with a Beko freezer within a few months.

That can't be quite right, surely? Isn't it the case that the excess exceeds £60 so it's not worth claiming?Lisa_Van64 said:Hi,

Beko wouldn't cover the contents, your consumer rights lie with AO as the retailer. I suspect that for them to entertain any claim for lost contents, you'll have to have some reasonable evidence of the value of food wasted (photos of it), and they'll ask what you did to limit the waste (e.g. borrow space in a neighbour's freezer, prioritise using some of the food immediately, etc.).1 -
Your claim would be against AO subject to what their T&Cs say about limitation of liability. It's hard to do, we included our food losses as part of a wider claim against JL. Whilst their staff denied that part of the claim when it was handed to the lawyers they agreed to settle it in full.
Having spoken to your insurers about this loss remember you will need to declare the incident going forward.0
