The faster payments rules:
As a minimum, all financial institutions in the UK must abide by the Payment Services Directive (PSD) – this states that any payments made by mobile, internet or phone banking (including standing orders) must arrive by the end of the following business day at the latest.

Bank always advertise 2 hours for Faster Payment. Following business day is not normal. Yes maybe terms conditions. Did Nationwide describe the issue as 'planned maintenance'?0 -
No they responded with the usual "we are aware of a delay affecting some payments to customers' accounts. We're working to fix this ASAP and we are really sorry for any inconvenience caused"0
