HMRC not paying refund

I'm owed - according to my accountant and agreed by HMRC - just over £3k in overpaid tax.
I requested this but its past the two weeks. They say not to chase for 4 weeks but I've heard some folks are being fobbed off for months and I really need the money.
Anyone experienced this?

Is this from a Self Assessment tax return? If so HMRC do not 'agree' anything and some checks may be going on in the background.
What gave rise to the repayment?0 -
Yes it's a self-assessment tax return.
By 'agreed' I meant that my account on the HMRC website says that this amount has been overpaid and that I can request for it to be refunded.
I have requested it but did not receive any communication since.March 2020 - 21k of debt; September 2020 - 14k of debt. Debt free target date September 2021

What gave rise to the repayment was a previous employer taxing me incorrectly, which my accountant picked up on and after him clarifying various points with me he submitted the formMarch 2020 - 21k of debt; September 2020 - 14k of debt. Debt free target date September 2021

Probably not very helpful, but my partner got her refund of £14 (don't ask) within a month. I'm sure such a trivial amount was automatically put forward for payment, but it still took a month.0
