CTF child trust fund alternatives for expats

We opened a CTF when we lived in UK, but then moved away. It seems to me we are stuck with a disgraceful 0.035% until child reaches 18, because an ISA isn't allowed

Who's that with? Does it offer alternative ways to invest that you could switch to e.g., an equity version of a CTF?
