Good morning folks. Once again the wind raged during the night, the clouds are still moving pretty fast across the sky.
I’ll be back after a stretch and a coffee.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. All is still and calm here - for now!! Gusty winds are due to hit us around lunchtime but no rain (if we can believe that) until early tomorrow. But on the plus side it feels mild!
I haven't heard yet whether supermarket sweep day with DS will be today or tomorrow. RUBY you should send your DM grocery shopping with my DD, they sound very much alike when faced with a supermarket! I prefer to shop with DS and get it out of the way, but just at a slightly slower pace! I don't need much other than a fridge re-stock. Despite trying to eat out of the freezers my stocks never seem to go down out there as I keep spotting bargains to ram in!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take extra care if you are clobbered by the storm. xx

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's raining, but doesn't seem particularly cold, yesterday I got washing dry outside!
I gave the kitchen and bathroom a good clean yesterday, and fitted a few other jobs in as well. I seem to have been out a lot and a few things been neglected.
As we all know, there's always housework.
I need to return some books to the library this morning, and there's food shopping to do for the van.
That's about it - hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks.12 -
Morning all40mph gusts reported today for Kent and 19 degrees, what a mixture! Not alot planned today, was going to do some stuff in the garden but don't fancy being blown around in those gusts so apart from re-potting a hydrangea that my colleague got me as a retirement present I shall leave the garden for a calmer day. Think I'll make some hobnobs though. Apart from that I think I'll settle down to a book I didn't finish on holiday before I forget what the plot was this afternoon as I'm now a lady of leisure!dp1 love to hear your granddaughter's thoughts through the eyes of a little 'un. Glad she enjoyed her time in London.Have a good day all and {{hugs}} for the poorlies x13

Morning all
Dry and calm here though we too are due some wind later, it is very mild though.
I have a 80th birthday lunch to attend and take DM and DF to - not really the kind of thing to attend when I can't taste anything......but I still need to eat. Two weeks now and I'm really struggling to think of things I want to eat and therefore am eating rubbish - grrrrr!
Other than that the campervan has it's habitation check (gas and electric etc) but the guy comes to the house which is very convenient.
Desperate to get into the garden but the weather is putting paid to those thoughts..... the lawn is getting jungle like but also boggy!
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and stays safe from any stormy weather.

I've had some breakfast and cleared up things I left out last night. I've also had a long phone call with my SIL to catch up on the holiday 'doings'.The drive home yesterday was extremely fraught but I made it even though it was much later than expected. I barely sat down to eat and drink before heading for bed.My family are now at Brisbane Airport for their flights back to UK. They loaded all the photos onto the iPhone shared folder which meant that I could see them all instantly, no hundreds of WhatsApp texts. It's been such a joy to see them all (five adults and six, sometimes seven, children) doing so many wonderful activities - I'm exhausted just scrolling through them all. There's been more ingress overnight. The granite hearth is soaking again, there's not really a leak it's just when the wind drives in from a certain direction it sends the rain through the stone walls. Nothing is damaged, it's just a pain, so I've got the dehumidifer running. My jobs today include making some soup, roasting chicken thighs and a piece of gammon which needs attention. Inbetween I'll be reading and catching up on TV. Semi-slothful.I hope that everyone is doing well.12

Morning all. Looks windy out but the sun's shining.
We had a lovely surprise video call yesterday from DS and his girlfriend, who are currently on holiday in Japan.
He has proposed and she's accepted! Not surprised in a way and very happy for them. Will wait to hear more when they return in about 10 days time.
I managed a bit of the 3 mile walk yesterday but headed back early and waited for them in the cafe. We had an enjoyable lunch, lots of chat and didn't leave there until 3pm so a good time was had by all.
Today I'm off to a music session at a pub near Kings Cross. My back feels a bit better but I've taken some paracetamols just in case.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saturday.12 -
Hi everyone,
dp1, good to see you back and glad you had a lovely time in London.
We had a worrying phone call yesterday from the people who maintain our home in Yorkshire. It was let last week and the people said there was a leaking radiator so a plumber went in. He said it looked as if it had been deliberate damage as it would have taken a good deal of force. The carpet was stained and soaked and the duvets were also stained and it had come through the ceiling. To add insult to injury someone had weed on one of the beds (or maybe the dog they had with them). There were other things that the cleaner had to deal with and we had a big party going in in the afternoon. We thought we might have to rush up there but luckily the plumber was a bit of a jack of all trades and had a cleaning business so he went and got his carpet cleaner and did the carpet (we'd put bleach cleanable carpets in) and the cleaner did all the rest so hopefully they will be ok. I'm really cross about it because the people complained about the leak and I think they did it to get a refund. We'll be asking them for compensation but I doubt we will get it.
We are on the last stage of moving possessions back from the storage unit, we want to finish today and then Laura and the children fly back tomorrow morning. Brian will drive back and may stop the night half way at Steve's sister's.
Have a good day.13 -
Morning! Sorry to those who don't have it and I expect we've only got it for a litle whie but it's warm, a bit breezy but not raining so garden delights are going on today. I have three thymes [ a normal, a variegated and a creeping] to put in a lovely pot I bought last year and I feel the urge to potter coming on. Food is in the fridge for tonight unless we go off the reservation and get a chippy tea. Our fish and chip shop is changing owners and since these are the best fish and chips we've ever had, we need to get in there quick while they're still there. OH is talking about painting the greenhouse again so I told him it's up to him, he wants to do it, then do it. He keeps asking me questions about doing it, I keep telling him to read the tin and see what it says...I'm not Mrs Google...[and I'm really not looking forward ot taking all the glass out and putting it back in again....because I know he won't do it] grump grump grumpChris, congratulations on your retirment proper! And sod the boss if he can't say goodbye. Gers, glad you got home in one piece! Nanny, nice to see you, don't feel guilty about doing nowt, the treatment smacks the faeces out of you...dp1, glad you had a nice time! Alie, what a pain in the rear...hope it comes back soon.your coastal path picture was pretty but iI'm glad I didn't have to walk it
.TA, same with the freezers, I rammed in a bit more yesterday again..WL, enjoy your jaunt..Izzy, how was the food market? snoozer, hope the scan comes back clear or something simple to sort...SO, glad you're hanging in there... TAke care all, enjoy the weekend if you can, do something different you like

Dry here for now but rain due this afternoon tomorrow we are due to get some sun 🤞 wm is on and doing its thing it will have to go on the airer though.
DD is off on a mini hen do later the brides mother is very poorly with a brain tumour 🙁 so they are having a sedate hen do and then a more lively one in May.
Dinner tonight is yet to be christened but we have plenty in so we won’t starve. I’m going to continue on with my wardrobe sort out today the shoes are looking very organised in their new boxes but I have had to order some more as I did not have enough 😊 I have got rid of a load of things so it’s looking much more organised.
Later or tomorrow will be tax return to do I strangely look forward to doing it as I find comfort in numbers 😃
TA do you think we could set them up together ??? My mum treats shopping like a day out where I like to be in and out within 1/2 hr !
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Just back from watching DGSons team play without him in it as he's in Wales. We still went to watch as DS2 is the assistant coach and the group of parents/grandparents are like friends so we enjoy seeing everyone. The team they were playing are notorious for rough play, and their coach is very biased when he's refereeing & gets very mad with his players which isn't very nice to watch, I'm glad our coach is such a calm, kind chap.Dp1, nice to read about your London adventures.Snoozer, that sounds awful, some people eh? Glad your trusty cleaner and plumber sorted it though.DH thinks we might have an Indian takeaway tonight, not had 1 for a while and it won't be too dear as DS1 is out, plus I haven't had a food delivery this week.Taff, we have a great chippy fairly close by but the owners are getting on in years and I can see them retiring in the not too distant future, the other one round here is nowhere near as good.Right am going to run round with the hoover while it's quiet. Have good days all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10
