BG old or new billing system?

I've seen many threads with questions and frustrations relating to the British Gas 'new billing system".

Is there a way to determine if i'm on the old or the new billing system?

Thanks

Yes, you'll need to check your customer number.
On the new system my customer number begins with 'A....' On the old '######.....' (where # = various numbers)
There may be other variations on the numbers

Don't worry too much both systems are pretty useless.  I am supposed to be on the new, but if this is new well!!!!!!

To be fair, I was on the new system for a couple of years and the only problem I had was them trying to increase the DD every couple of months despite falling usage and always being in credit. No variable direct debit on the new system, BTW. They do seem relatively honest compared to a couple of companies I could mention.

My customer number starts with an A so maybe I started on the new system  - my first bill in June 2021 (when I fortuitously took out a 2 year fix with 'British Gas Evolve' ) also had an A prefix.

    Thanks for the replies.
