Compensation for my neighbour

I live in a ground floor flat and following severe water damage there is a lot of very noisy work going including new joists for floors. Whilst the insurance company is covering hotel costs for us, my neighbour upstairs is having to endure this noise for around three weeks. Is it likely that the insurers will pay them compensation. I’ve asked and am waiting a reply but wondered if anyone has experience of knowledge of this

its very unlikely. the noisy work shold only be taking places during sociable hours
if it was you paying. would you pay the compensation?

It is not likely, the probability is likely close to zero. The reason your insurer is paying for you to live in a hotel is because your home will be deemed uninhabitable, not because of noise specifically.PrincessMrs said:I live in a ground floor flat and following severe water damage there is a lot of very noisy work going including new joists for floors. Guidance below for building noisy building work.General construction work should be restricted to the following hours:Monday to Friday 8am to 6pmSaturdays 8am to 1pmNoisy work is prohibited on Sundays and bank holidays0 -
Your home insurance covers two things, basically
(1) Damage to your property (not your neighbour's property) and
(2) Your legal liabilities to other people, ie money that your neighbour could sue you for and which, were you not insured, you would be legally obligated to pay out of your own pocket.
It's very unlikely that you have any legal liability to your neighbour because of a bit of noise while essential repairs are carried out so no, it's not likely that your insured will cover any payment to them.0
