Eon Next are now offering their new Drive v3 tariff even if you don’t have an EV (battery required). Strong competition for Octopus at 6.9p for seven hours. Copied text below:

    “Next Drive Fixed V3

With Next Drive Fixed V3 you will benefit from cheaper overnight electricity rates to charge your Electric Vehicle. This tariff is fixed for 12 months which means you are protected from any price changes for a year. There is no exit fee with this tariff. To be eligible you must own or lease an Electric Vehicle or have a solar storage system and must pay by direct debit.
Price is 6.9p per kWh for seven hours starting at midnight to charge EV or house battery as well as supply to the house. Price is fixed for 12 months, no exit fee and £50 new customer referral bonus if know someone who is with them, otherwise easily found Google or X/Twitter search

Gas fixed kWh also cheaper than Octopus 12 month loyal fix.
What's the peak price per kWh?
Their on-peak tariff in the North West is 29.87p compared to 27.28p on Octopus Intelligent so expect other regions to similarly be around 9% higher than Octopus. Standing charge for the North West is 51.18p compared to 49.12p on Octopus.
29.183 p here (Southern Scotland) but standing charge a massive 63.308 p.  And I can see some wind turbines out my window so the electricity doesn't have far to travel!

Sorry, yes I live in the North East of England but my region is Southern Scotland, I just looked myself up. I have edited my previous post to correct this.

One question is whether your EV, or your charger if you have one, are compatible with some of these tariffs.

We are a 2 EV household and have the OVO charge anytime tariff. My Nissan Leaf isn't suitable for benefiting from the charge anytime component. We charge the higher mileage Tesla off the charge anytime and I am stuck paying full rate for the Leaf. The upside is that we don't pay any extra for daytime/ general use electric. We switch mileage to the Tesla whenever possible as a result of this. The Leaf now does only 2,000 miles a year.
If you had a compatible wall box, then using IO you would.

Same with OVO if you have a Ohme or Indra wall box. You use them as the link, rather than the car.

We have 2 EV's & have no issues with IO, as Ohme does the work, not the cars.
Unfortunately I have a podpoint charger, which doesn't seem to be compatible with the EV tariff. The charger was free, so there was a cost saving at that point.
