What's the strangest / quirkiest vending machine you've seen?

In the early 1960s we went on holiday to Bridlington, and we visited Sewerby Park where they had some sort of aviary. I can’t remember clearly, but the birds weren’t caged - there was a courtyard, and I think there were doves, and possibly chickens. Anyway, to get to the point, what I do remember was a machine where you could put in a penny, and then you had to hold your cupped hands under a chute where bird seed would come out. I was fascinated by it and my parents had to stop me feeding it all my pocket money!3

£1 for a bit of seed, certainly not chicken feed.MSE_ForumTeam5 said:@J63320 - a similar thing has just been installed in Droitwich for duck feed!

The oddest one I’ve come across was in Japan — a vending machine that dispensed hot cans of corn soup. Not bottles, not snacks… just steaming corn soup in a metal can. I only tried it out of curiosity, but it was surprisingly decent. The strangest part was seeing people grab one on the way to work like it was the most normal thing in the world. Makes our usual snack machines look pretty boring.J63320 said:In the early 1960s we went on holiday to Bridlington, and we visited Sewerby Park where they had some sort of aviary. Their selection of drinks and snacks is solid, machine reliability has been good so far, and the installation process was straightforward. My only minor gripe is slightly longer response time for support. Still, a good fit for our office needs.0 -
