Near me there is a self-service printing shop (for students etc). They've recently added a vending machine with a mix of practical stationery items and London souvenirs, T-shirts, keyrings etc

When I was in France once there was a whole corner shop that operated as just vending machines.
I was intrigued as to how the 6-pack of eggs would actually be delivered down to the drawer for collection.0 -
In rural parts of France you can find vending machines for all sorts of things. Baguettes (as mentioned), potatoes, some fruits, I even saw one for saucisson and foie gras in Haute Savoie.
The strangest I've ever seen was in Salamanca. It said "Snacks Drinks ... Sex Shop ...". Of course I checked and the sex shop bit was in fact a selection of Durex... in the midst of which sat a lonely stack of Kitkats. Looked somewhat incongruous

AlexMac said:Really boring, but as a kid, 65 years ago, we'd use the milk machine late at night to share a pinta as a drink on the way home from the Boy Scout meetings in Brixton South London. If we were really flush, we'd buy sixpennoth' (2.5p) of chips (from a human, not a machine).
The only place that sells milk from a machine now is the wholesome, organic, free-range unpasturised trendoid farm shop near my mate's in Wiltshire.
Oh and completely off the topic, it reminds me that in those days, I, as a boy scouts was allowed to wear a knife in public if in uniform! Walk around Brixton now with a six inch blade on your belt and they'd hopefully bang you up?0 -
My favourite vending place is in Herefordshire and they have a gorgeous selection of fruit available 24/7, you sometimes find some fancy chocolate or fruit juice in their too.
In Tenerife there is a vending shop, I've not been in neither am I brave enough to try it but they have pizzas and hamburgers advertised, there's quite a list but that's all I remember.
Many years ago and my first trip to Blackpool as an adult, I recall their being machines you'd put a pound in, twist the handle and get a skimpy supposedly sexy pair of undies, I was not willing to part with a pound to try them out.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
