Presumably the same with Virgin Money in the past where they had a few lounges in Central London. VM Customers with card could get Free Wifi, Coffee, Tea Cookies for free.

But what confuse me with this Santander is that in the ads Santander, it does not indicate whether it is free or not to enter and use facility. Also it said it is to be used by anyone. From this information I could only guess you will need to rent it. Does anyone have further information about this ?? Thanks

It says on the page you linked to: You don’t have to be a Santander customer, anyone is welcome to use these spaces.

Basically you can treat it like a coffee shop, work in there, use the Wifi etc. I think they hope you'll buy a coffee so they make some money, even if you don't want one of their Edge Current Accounts.

TheBanker But if this was the case, like a coffee shop, what value they are offering to their banking customers ? There are a lot of coffee shops in a more strategic locations. You could buy Tea/Coffee, cookies in Starbucks,Costa, Coffee Nero and sit there for hours have free Wi-Fi.
Virgin Money was offering their customers the free Lounge in the city Centre, self-service Tea/Coffee free refill, cookies,Wi-Fi access. It is also in the very strategic locations such as in Piccadilly Circus in London. You could also invite other people to come with you as your guests.

I assume they are offering their banking customers the opportunity to do their banking, all be it in a coffee shop rather than a traditional branch. Perhaps they are testing whether this is a way to keep their branch network viable/profitable rather than closing a load more branches?

They might also hope that some of the members of the public who use the cafe might decide to open an account with Santander?

They have these Work Cafes all over the world: https://www.santander.com/en/stories/work-cafe-santanders-innovative-branch-concept

I did use the Santander Work Cafe in Leon, Spain. Well, use is a loose description really.
I was walking the Camino de Santiago and wanted to use the WC !
I did have a free coffee and Danish pastry off them as well, they were lovely.

Thanks for the head up. Very good to hear that it is free to use. But how could they effort to offer it to all people. Virgin Money model is more sustainable as they will only offer it to VM Customer (e.g keep existing customer). For marketing to new customers, there are a lot of better way of spending the marketing budget. But anyway, They know what they are doing. It is not my business to care about that. All I need is to take advantage of it.
I just notice they are available across Europe especially in Spain.
    In the UK
They have it in London, Leeds, Milton Keynes and in strategic location in the City Centre. In London in Triton Square for instance it is very close to two tube stations and relative close to Euston Square.

I presume the locations are partially influenced by where they have excess space and long leases they can't wriggle out of too?

The London and Milton Keynes ones are both in their head office buildings.

Thanks. Ahhh I see it now. It seems the one reported in Post #337 in Leon and Spain are different with the one in the UK.
