Having just paid off our mortgage, our lender sent us a whole raft of documents going back to 1920, including a booklet quoting drainage byelaws.
Whilst not of great import, I did spot this comment at para 27 which may be relevant to other cases where byelaws apply.

The act (https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1889/63/pdfs/ukpga_18890063_en.pdf) was, probably unsurprisingly, update in 1978 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1978/30/contents
Wordings have been tided up/ added "for the avoidance of doubt" type clarity but many things are broadly the same despite the almost 100 years gap3
