Cottage Owner Wanting Personal Info

Options
Hi,

I will be renting a property in the UK for a holiday and have been asked by the owner for my address, telephone number and email.  I have never been asked for this before, does anyone have an idea why they would need it?

I should mention that this is through a well known booking site who suggest that you only communicate through the site.

Thank you.

So if rather than having a holiday there you decide to hire a removal truck and empty the property of everything in it they are then able to pursue you for their losses rather than having to go back and forth via the agency.

The Agent would normally pass the details over.

When you make the booking - won't it automatically transfer that information over to the property owner? Hard to know without knowing which booking site you're using.

    Standard info requirement.
Booked cottages direct for many years & always asked for these. How else are they supposed to contact you?

  • I completely do not understand what our issue is! This is standard information required. Would you let out your own property without it? Have you a secret life to hide? :)

Of course they want your info.

You don't think if you book into a hotel or any sort of accommodation that the owners would want to know who is occupying their property?

Why would you NOT want the owners of the property to know who you are?
