Eighth Anniversary First Post Home Insurance Hacker! Chutzpah Haggler
I was in the process of  changing from British Gas to EDF ( Martin's best fix).
Yesterday having signed up for the 12M offer and loging off,  I received an email from British Gas saying sorry to see you go, ring to check if we can help you stay.
I rang them as I thought it was worth a few minutes to check on the off chance, and was offered a free Hive thermostat. I indicated I was not interested and was offered a £150 credit in 90days if I cancelled my transfer and remained with them.
Unless my maths has suddenly gone wrong I reckon taking their 12 month fix and the  £150 offer   (£10.50 a month over the 12 months), I am nearly £8 a month better off than the EDF offer.

Thought this maybe of interest to anyone with British Gas on the standard tariff as I got the impression that I did not even need to take a fix to get the offer.
