Trying to get energy prices.

BIB what did they say when you called them?the_gardener_2 said:Thank you all. No smart meter but regular readings. . Now over 1000 pounds after a recent meter read bill.
Yes I called them and used the online request. seems sad as I thought i could get decent service from Octopus.
re Ovo yes I found the prices eventually. Sadly the staff were obstructive and unhelpful. I guess like other call centre staff they are are under pressure to finish the calls.
Sadly I tried the comparison sites and it seems as I am on the almost the best deal already. Doing a switch to get a refund seems a bit desperate on reflection. .
Have you raised a formal complaint? If not, why not?0 -
What do you get if you click on the "Manage my payments" button, you should be able to reduce your Direct Debit to zero there. I suspect that the issue might be you are asking for a credit over £1,000 and it needs to go through authorisation and verification. If I were you I would also make sure you submit regular meter reads, you might be asked to send a picture as well before they process the refund.0

I've always found Octopus to be very good with refunds. I've never been able to use the section on their website for a refund, so have to drop them a message via X.Infact I did that this morning asking for a refund of £2000, which will leave me £200 in the account.0

Are there any calculators about that can work out the cost of usage for this price cap and the predicted one from July (i know i know ) which i'm aware can change but it's a relatively strong one now i believe. I would be using kwh figures from last years April-September period.
I'm currently fixed with Sainsburys till start of October and with prices dropping i had wondered if it was worth paying the £150 exit fees to go on to price cap or better. On my usage i worked out it's not but was just wondering if a calculator could have saved me the time. I'm pretty sure there won't be but thought i'd ask anyway.0 -
If you can create a simple spreadsheet, it's not rocket science. Fixes have the advantage (or not) that they will take you through the next winter at a known rate, even if it doesn't turn out to be the cheapest.
Most, if not all, comparison sites use your annual usage in kWh so that you see the cost for both winter and summer spread evenly over a year.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Indeed it's not rocket science but i'm just lazy tbh and have never used a spreadsheet. I suppose i could get the wife or daughter to knock one up but i have the figs now anyway. The only thing that will maybe change in the next couple of months is the July price cap unless my usage from last year changes dramatically for the same period this year which i seriously doubt but who knows.
I was on a really good deal 2 year deal before i took the fix so not relly kept up on my energy costs like i used to. What is handy knowledge which i must have forgot is the 49 day rule when you can initiate a switch. The fees just don't justify a change just now based on my usage when i'm able to do it for nothing come mid/late August.
Thanks for the response0 -
