Is it Legal to enter people into a giveaway/raffle once they buy a entry ticket?

Hi,

What Im after doing is i'm selling tickets for a event lets say football.

I want to say on social media that if you buy a ticket this week only or have already purchased a ticket they will automatically enter into a raffle for a £100 item. There ticket ID number will be there raffle ticket. The number will be picked out of a hat randomly.

The item and event is all legit. Is this legal to do?

Legal? It can be made legal but as you describe it would sound like gambling and so would need to ensure you hold the appropriate licenses and have the necessary controls when dealing with gambling. 

You would be advised to speak to a lawyer with the appropriate knowledge... it is possible to make it exempt from the gambling laws but this would require some changes like having a free method that people can enter the draw without buying a ticket and/or for it to include an element of skill not just a random number pick.
