Posting Commemorative Coins ?

Hi. Just read somewhere that the only way to send Commemorative Mint coins for eBay sales is via Royal Mail Special Delivery in order to have insurance protection, as they're legal tender. Is this correct ? I've sent £5 Silver Proof Coins in the past via Tracked 48, but on a value of say £30, makes no sense sending Special Delivery/ absorbing the postage cost. Unless something has changed recently ? Appreciate any advice

If the cover guideleines say only RMSD gives cover for legal tender coins, and that's the only way - that's what I'd go with if you want the cover. Otherwise you risk not getting any cover by going tracked 48. Take a chance and send with tracked 48 if you don't mind taking the loss if it goes missing.

Thanks cymruchris.
Found this on Royal Mint website, which would suggest you'd still be covered, even under Tracked 48.
"The Royal Mint creates commemorative and bullion coin collections to celebrate key moments or individuals, and these are often treasured for their collectable and aesthetic value or purchased for investment opportunities. However, these commemorative and bullion coins will not officially enter general circulation, which means that banks and businesses are not required to accept them."0 -
I might say be a little careful that they don't consider them 'precious metals'. That seems to come under RMSD as well.
